We have just gotten home from a lovely trip to England. We have been to crufts with Ester (CH. Impeccable Fourth miss congeniality).

We know it might sound crazy to drive so far for a dog show, but it has been worth every mile. Lena and Gitte came with us so we had a very nice time and many laughs! Crufts is also a spectacle that we will late forget. With over 20 000 dogs it is one of the biggest dog shows in the world.

IMG_5068webWe checked in at a very charming bed and breakfast, called Oak Tree Farm, in Hopwas, about half an hour from Birmingham.

Friday was the day of the dog show. It was the day we have so long been waiting for. 2015 was a record year with 62 pulis. It is not often we get to see so many nice dogs.

Crufts is a benched dog show and each dog gets assigned a place. Ester made herself feel quite at home on her bench. crufts 2015webJudge for puli was Barry Croft. The picture below is the open class for dogs.

Gitte och Lena has pumi, a breed that is not yet registered in the Kennel Club. Hopefully it will be in the near future.

Of course we made a visit to the bearded collie ring. There were around 300 bearded collies at Crufts so the bitches and dogs where shown in separate rings. We met som friends which was nice! Here is “Jack” CH.Philemon Sixth Sense. Later that day his daughter, Fayme, went on to win best of breed and also best in the pastoral group final. Congratulations!

The saturday was our “day off” and we took the opportunity to do some sightseeing. It was a beautiful spring day with the temperature rising to 18 degrees. First we made a visit to Warwick. Lena and Gitte visited the castle while we (Anna and Inger) took Ester for a walk in the city.

From Warwick we drove south to Stratford upon Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare.

IMG_5190webOn sunday the weather was much worse. We took the car to Birmingham city but because of the heavy rain we were quite happy staying in the car. Sunday was also the final day at Crufts. We went to see the last two group finals and then the Best in show final. We were happy to see that two of the 7 best in show dogs were from Sweden. The swedish flat coated retriever was runner up! Huge congratulations.

IMG_5275webMonday morning was our last day in England and we got to see a the most beautiful sunrise.

IMG_5321web IMG_2885We have driven through England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Denmark to get to Sweden. It was a very long drive but we cannot wait to do it again!
