We have been lucky to get lots of snow this january. We love it and the dogs love it!
We also took some photos for the bearded collie yearbook.
It is raining and the leaves are starting to change color. It feels like fall is here and we are remembering our summer…
Lovely walks by the sea:
Boat rides on the lake:
Walks in the forest:
Visiting Oliver and Maja in Gothenburg:
We got a visit from Siri (Vallklanens Dartmoor Dreamer) and Emma (Vallklanens Sweet Swede).
Family picture with mother Ester and (half) siblings Edith, Kafka, Siri and Emma:
Emma looks a lot like her sister Edith:
Edith, Elsa and Sally came with us on a trip to Norway. We made many stops on the way, here in Borgvik and Hovfjället, Sweden:
We went to the SKK international and national all breed dog shows in Tvååker where Edith, our junior, was BOS two days in a row, and that with some nice competition. We are so proud of her. Kafka was 2nd dog both days.
Ester came along as company, here sitting between her good looking offspring Kafka and Edith.
We also made a nice trip to Bremen in Germany where Edith won the junior class both days and has now become a German junior champion (VDH JCH). Hugo helped to show her in best bitch class. Perhaps he is a future junior handler?!
Kafka and Edith are trying new beds:
It was a successful weekend where Elsa finally got her last CAC to become a German champion (VDH CH). Märta won her class and got a CAC and Kafka was BOS.
Now we are preparing for the fall. Anna will have a baby soon, we are going to the swedish bearded collie club’s breeder’s conference, to a couple of seminars about dog foods, we are going to the world dog show in Leipzig and much more.
A big congratulations to Dennis, Sigge, Imla, Bilbo, Lewis, Elsa, Totiki, Mållgan, Doris ,Bella and Edda who are turning 3 years old today!
We hope that you are all doing great. We have wonderful memories from this litter.
Elsa has “celebrated” her birthday by mating with a handsome boy. Now we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will have puppies at Vallklanen this summer ❤
Since the last time we wrote in out blog Elsa (CH Vallklanens Armadale Gal) has done a behaviour and pesonality description through the Swedish Kennelclub. She has also gotten a final Cacib to become an international champion. Now we are just waiting for the confirmation from the FCI. She has just now come in season and we are hoping that she will have puppies this summer. We will soon post some more information on our puppies page.
We have spent the easter weekend with our family and the dogs.
Hugo and Oliver played and also cuddled with the dogs:
Lotte and Jan came to visit and brought Valle (CH Vallklanens Old Ben Lomond) and Nisse (Vallklanens Sgt Pepper):
We took the opportunity to take some new photos of Edith who is now 8 months old and Märta who is a year and half:
We hope that you all had a happy easter!
Where did the past few months go? I think we need a bit of an update here!
We’ve said goodbye to both Piaf and Hygge. Piaf is now called Licorice (Vallklanens Sweet Licorice) and lives in Germany with a breeder who also has bearded collies. We are really happy for that! Hygge travelled to Devon, England, where he is also doing well!
In the beginning the house felt very empty without the puppies, but now Edith makes sure to keep us occupied.
We have been to a couple of shows. One in Hannover, Germany and one in Gothenburg, Sweden. Our dogs have done well. Märta was 4th best bitch at MyDog in Gothenburg. She was also crufts qualified because she won the junior class.
The dogs have taken turns to come with me to work. Even Edith has come to say hello to the elderly who live at the nursing home.
Ester and Kafka are living with Anna most of the time. We have finally finished building the new dog yard, where the dogs can hang out when Anna goes to work.
It is not very far to the beach from Anna’s house, so the dogs get to go on a lot of beach walks.
This weekend we went to visit Elsa.
Pernilla helped us to take a few photos. It was easier said than done to get everybody to focus…
…but finally we got a few nice shots.
Today we are travelling home from Gotland. We have been here on a vacation for a week, ending with 2 dog shows in Visby. After the results from the show we really have reason to celebrate!
Kafka (Vallklanens Devon Showstopper) was BOS both days and became a swedish champion. He has CCs in Denmark and Norway since before so he is also a nordic champion now.
Elsa (Vallklanens Armadale Gal) was best of breed two days in a row and also became a swedish and danish champion. Yesterday she was 3rd in the group final and today she made the short list but wasn’t placed in the group final.
We are so proud of these two youngsters. They have just turned two years old and it feels like they have a bright future ahead.
Märta (Natterjack starshine) also had a great weekend. Yesterday she was best junior with an excellent. Today she was also best junior and became 3rd best bitch with a reserve CC. Anna-Lena Munkvall was juding, and said the following about Märta:
Feminine bitch. Lovely head and expression. Excellent pigment. Correct bite. Nice eyes. Well set ears. Well placed and angulated shoulder. Slightly sloping croup. Excellent ribcage. Moves well.
We also want to once again say congratulations to Hjördis (Vallklanens Devon Country Girl), Kafkas sister, who became a swedish and norwegian champion last weeken din Ransäter. She was also best of breed with 16 pulis competing. Well done Jenny and Hjördis!
On sunday we had a Vallklanen gathering in Ljungby. It was a lovely group of people and dogs that came and we got some time to BBQ, practice rally obedience and agility and just hang out and talk. 25 dogs were there with their owners. A big thank you to everyone who came!

Märta and Sally:
We hope that we will all meet soon again.
Elsa and Kafka have been to Tvååker. We met many friends and were glad to see Bilbo (Vallklanens Benbecula Boy) and Bailey (Vallklanens Source of Light) also compete. Bilbo got a “very good” and Bailey “excellent”. Bailey was 4th male in a very big open class. Judge was Regina Blessing from Germany.
Elsa and Bilbo:
On saturday Elsa won a big open class and was runner up best bitch with a CAC. I am soooo happy!
Kafka also did well and was BOS:
We have been to a couple of dog shows in Vänersborg. The first day was an all breed SKK dog show and the second day the Swedish bearded collie club specialty.
The shows were outside at a beautiful place. We got a really nice to stay right next to the water.
Elsa (Vallklanens Armadale Gal)
Engla (Vallklanens Lady Kinross):
Just a few days after this show Engla got a new rally obedience title from completing the advanced level. She can now compete at the master lever if she wishes to. Huge congratulations!
Märta (to the right) met her dad Lipton (middle) and grandmother Wendy (to the left).
Kafka (Vallklanens Devon showstopper) did really well. He was 2nd best male but got both CAC and Cacib.
Janne with Elsa and Märta:
The bearded collies did really well at the SKK show. Lipton won the group, a beardie was BIS-puppy, another BIS 2- veteran and finally Lärkängen won BIS- breeders group.
Congratulations to all!
On saturday night we just relaxed by the water with the dogs.
Märta being judged by Ulrica Olsson at the specialty.
Hebbe (Goonie’s Highlander Lad) progeny group:
We had a wonderful weekend.
We have been to Roskilde in Denmark with Kafka, Elsa and Märta.
Our bearded collied didn’t do as well as we would have hoped but they got excellent critiques. It was also a really good opportunity for Märta to practice at a bigger show, meet many people and dogs.
Kafka, our puli, did really well. He got CAC and Cacib 2 days in a row. He was 2nd best male and was a real show off in the ring.
Tino Pehar was judging day 1 and he gave Kafka the following critique: “20 months old, short in body, strong young boy, nice head with enough long muzzle, good eye expression, nice outline, correct angulations, good coat for age, fantastic movements”
We met many friends with their lovely dogs. Amon them Pia with her very cute russkaya tsvetnaya bolonka “Bella”, Lena with her pumi “Loremo” and Jesper with the puli “Bubbles”:
